Ravic (Anthony Hopkins), is associate Austrian doctor WHO helped Jews get away the Nazi regime. He was tortured during a concentration camp. In 1939 he's living in Paris, below a name and with none documents, perpetually alert to the danger of being in remission. At night, on one in all Paris bridges over the Seine, Ravic meets Joan Madou (Lesley-Anne Down), a lady on the brink of (possibly) try suicide, and helps her.
