Venus in Fur (French: La Vénus à la fourrure) is a 2013 French drama film directed by Roman Polanski. it's supported the play of an equivalent name by american author David Ives, that itself was impressed by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch's novel Venus in Furs.
The film premiered in competition for the Palme d'Or at the 2013 cannes festival on twenty five may. In January 2014 the film received 5 nominations at the thirty ninth César Awards, winning for Best Director.

Thomas is a writer-director of a brand new play, associate adaptation of the 1870 novel Venus in Furs by Austrian author Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. Alone in an exceedingly Parisian theatre once on a daily basis of auditioning actresses for the lead character, Wanda von Dunayev, Thomas laments on the phone of the poor performances to come back through. As he's getting ready to depart the theatre, associate actress named vanda arrives matted. in an exceedingly windstorm of energy and unrestrained aggression, orchidaceous plant convinces the director to let her scan for the part. To Thomas's astonishment, vanda shows nice understanding of the character and is aware of each line by memory. because the audition progresses, the intensity is increased and also the attraction of Thomas turns into obsession.
